It is easy to spend at least one day just taking in the arts and crafts of the Champagne Valley . These are too numerous to mention here but the main ones of interest are: Zulu Weavers, where one can watch a rug being hand woven by local women -–they also have an excellent waffle shop for refreshments. The Candle factory next door has a myriad of candles to delight the eye.
Our local Valley Bakery offers sumptuous light lunches and snacks in the coffee shop or tea gaden throughout the day.
The Biltong Hut has the best biltong for miles around and a good selection of value for money curios and gifts to take home with you.
Ardmore Ceramic factory is close by with interesting pottery for the discerning buyer.
The nearest restaurant is at the Drakensberg Sun Hotel which is 2 minutes walk from here.
Monks Cowl Country Club offers excellent, affordable meals throughout the day with ‘Local is Lekker' specials every Monday. And there are a number of other good restaurants close by.
All of these interesting places are within 15 minutes of Cathkin Cottage B & B, whilst in Winterton (25 minutes drive) we have a wonderful museum packed full of information and local history
